Week 8 progress

I am pretty happy with my progress so far, but there is definitely room for improvement. For one, I will be working to raise my grade during the second half of the semester. I'm grateful that I have so many options to do so!

Honestly, I am proud of my storybook introduction — I may have been a little late to the game in writing it, but now that's I've got it done, I have the momentum to write the next story. I feel that I set my introduction up well to help me continue to the rest of my stories.

Juggling 12 graduate hours and a job has proved to make keeping a regular weekly schedule difficult, but I am trying my best. I've definitely gotten better at keeping a routine, though it's often thrown off by busier weeks at work. It would certainly be a lot harder to keep up if I didn't enjoy these assignments so much! I like that I have an outlet for creative writing, and it's really fun to both do the assigned readings and read others' stories.

In the second half of the semester, I want to continue trying to have a more regular schedule and more balance between my classes and my job. Things can get pretty crazy at The Daily when our special publications — like our gameday previews, Living Guide, and Crimson Quarterly magazines — come out, because they take a lot of work and time from the design desk. But ultimately worth it!

In my writing, I want to try to incorporate more poetry. I love poetry, and I definitely think it can be fused with prose to enhance the stories. I also want to try using a lot of descriptive imagery. I love reading beautiful literary illustrations, and I want others to feel the same when they read my writing!

This checklist I found helps me calm down when I get overwhelmed with all
my assignments and papers due for my classes. Grad school is a lot, but also
very rewarding when I get things done. Source: Pinterest
